Foster Community Online
by Andris Dinsbergs. Average Reading Time: about a minute.
Client: Foster Chamber of Commerce
Website: http://www.foster.vic.au
Information Finalist at the ANZIA internet awards 2011!
Instead of using a Council grant for printing old fashioned brochures to promote the town, the Foster Chamber decided instead to commission Loud Mountain to create and maintain a website which would be an ongoing form of promotion, a community asset and of course much more environmentally friendly.
The most important aspect of the development of the not-for-profit website was to create a business directory which funds the ongoing maintenance. Businesses can submit their listings online or via paper form.
A noticeboard was required for important information to locals as well as day visitors (recently used for flood and fire information).
Features
Business listings, events calendar, classified ads, users can upload content/business listing info etc, community noticeboard, latest posts, featured posts/listings are highlighted, Google Adsense ads management, blog facility for organisations, full CMS administration documentation.
Technical: HTML5, CSS2, Loud Mountain web hosting, @fontface fonts, 2 x custom post types, search engine optimised
