Cluster Technology
The Cluster delivers faster response times, faster processing of dynamic content and faster downloads than other hosting platforms.
The Cluster offers the same load-balanced reliability as our original Standard Cluster and adds true session integrity.
Fast/Fat architecture. Faster response & faster dynamic content.
Each machine in the Cluster actually powers two servers simultaneously, one ‘Fast’ and one ‘Fat’.
The Fast server is optimised for high-speed delivery of static content and delegates dynamic content processing to the Fat server, which is optimised for PHP and Perl.
On the Cluster, static content never waits in a queue behind dynamic content and dynamic pages are processed more efficiently. That means faster response times and faster dynamic content.
Performance compression. Faster downloads.
Servers in the Cluster automatically compress appropriate outbound http traffic on the fly. A 100KB text file could be delivered within only 3KB of data. That means faster downloads for your site visitors.
Reliable session management. True session integrity.
Any server cluster is inherently more reliable than a standalone server. But sessions must be managed carefully if they are to survive hardware failure.
The Cluster uses reliable session management. Sessions are stored centrally through a memory based system that provides optimal performance.
In the event of webserver maintenance or hardware failure, site visitors are transparently transferred to another webserver node. The session continues uninterrupted since the sessions are not stored locally.
